Show Your Space | Marianne Sung
Our Show Your Space Artist this week is Marianne Sung.
"Prior to the pandemic I took a few classes per week at independent art schools/studios in Toronto. Once the lockdown started I bought my first easel and moved my computer into a moderately used office in my house. I usually kept all my acrylic paints in a tote bag to transport to class but I did not paint much at home. Now they are permanently laid on my desk with other supplies.

I also organize my art materials into clear shoe box sized plastic containers and I use my university textbooks to weigh down art made on paper. Currently I attend weekly painting classes on Zoom in my home studio. It is my art sanctuary that is filled with bright sunlight and that I decorated with some of my own art to make it feel more cozy.

Through my art I wish to move and unite people. My artwork is inspired by places I have explored in nature near and far. Every painting captures a landscape in a moment of time with which I hope the viewer can connect. I am a self-taught contemporary artist and mostly focus on landscapes, trees and flowers with some abstract. My style is graphic yet painterly and the medium I use is acrylic on canvas or paper as well as mixed media. The part I love most about painting is colour mixing because it feels intuitive and is also so much fun!
