Shipping Manager - Full TIme

We are an established artist supply company in downtown Toronto serving artists and creatives for over 50 years. Gwartzman’s currently ships to customers across North America. We are potentially looking to expand to other countries. You would be working with and leading a team of up to 3 members.

Job Description & Experience

  • Prepare appropriate paperwork for shipping, including packing slips, bills of lading (BOL) for deliveries across Canada and/or customs forms for across‐the‐border deliveries.
  • Arrange with carriers and compare pricing to ship and /or receive outgoing and incoming shipments
  • Assist with tracking shipments and update customers or internal teams on their status.
  • Assist with tracking inventory to ensure that orders are filled in a timely manner and notify buyers, customer service when inventory levels are low
  • Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and in resolving discrepancies
  • Pick and pack orders or inventory product according to order specifications and ensure accuracy of orders
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Check all incoming packaging for damage and compare, count and verify information on packing slips.
  • Work with the Inventory Manager to resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Retrieve orders in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy.
  • Build pallets with orders and position them for tailgate deliveries.
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
  • Keep records of completed orders.
  • Make continuous improvement in the workspace and assists in identifying opportunities to improve all processes.
  • Keep warehouse organized
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work area.
  • Be a part of the recruiting and hiring of staff, including training workers in duties and policies
  • Adhere to health & safety policies and quality standards.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Warehouse experience required.
  • High School diploma required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills. Able to learn and use in-house software applications.
  • Able to work from verbal and written instructions and have good attention to detail.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Displays leadership skills
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, and climb stairs
