In this session we will explore how to prepare and work with Tri-Art aluminum panels (both flat and cradled) so that artists of all skill levels can feel comfortable experimenting with this unique and beautiful substrate!

Introduction to Silverpoint with Alan Li

Discover the fascinating qualities of Silverpoint, a drawing medium favoured during the Renaissance by the old masters, such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Albrecht Durer.

In this hands-on workshop you will create a Silverpoint drawing that will develop warm brown tones as it ages. Professional artist and conservationist Alan Li, will guide you with techniques and history that make this a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Encaustic Basics with R&F Handmade Paints

Learn the basics of Encaustic and take your art in a new direction. Hosted by R&F and Gwartzman's Art Supplies.

This demonstration will cover what encaustic is and safe working temperatures; appropriate fusing tools; basic studio ventilation and tips for workspace setup; appropriate encaustic grounds; how to prepare a surface, and more!

Life Drawing the Costumed Model | Tuesday March 31st, 6:30pm | In-store 

New! An informal costumed life drawing session, the last Tuesday each month at Gwartzman's! Join fellow creatives, practice techniques, experiment and relax.

Doors will open at 6:30pm. Each month will feature different costumes and models. We will start with short pose/quick gesture, and progressively move into longer poses at approximately 15-20 minutes in length. There will be a short break half way through.
