Subway Drawing: Learn to Sketch Commuters

🚇 Join us for a 2 part workshop and learn how to sketch people on the TTC!

Overview

Part 1 will be held at Gwartzman’s Art Supplies where our instructor will demonstrate how to break down and quickly sketch a face from multiple angles. You’ll also learn how to become invisible so you can sketch freely without attracting unwanted attention. Attendees will get to practice sketching from a live model inside the store.

Part 2 will be held on the subway where you’ll experience the thrill of sketching TTC riders from real life. All of the essential skills for candidly sketching on location, in a respectful manner, will be demonstrated. 

Art materials will be provided.

About your instructor

Artist and conservationist Alan Li uses pencils and paint to document the wonders of the natural world. Alan’s mission is to build connections to nature through art-based education. Since 2015, he has been partnering with non-profit environmental organizations to teach nature focused art programs and workshops.

How to get here

Gwartzman's is located at College and Spadina. The 506 and 510 streetcar are the closest options. At College, just head South on Spadina. You will find us on the West side at 448 Spadina Avenue.

Limited street parking is available.
