My name is Christine Hirtescu and I am a representational painter, specializing in palette knife painting. I use a variety of different palette knives to carefully sculpt out images, typically urban landscapes.
I’m currently exploring a series of paintings featuring car headlines because I feel that the colours they cast off into the pavement create beautiful abstract tones and textures that are fun to explore with knives in particular and evoke a sense of visceral connection for the viewer.
I have worked very hard to cultivate a craft all my own. I have been featured in the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair 3 years in a row. I have studied art at OCADU, TSA, and George Brown College. I also hold a degree in Art History from the University of Toronto.
